Laser Light Therapy Now Offered by Dr. June Gentle
Light therapy referred to as Low Level Laser Therapy LLLT and cold laser has been used for years for pain relief and inflammation. Neck pain, shoulder pain, chronic heel pain, plantar fasciitis, etc.
The Laser uses photons light therapy that penetrates through the overlaying skin and goes directly into the cells. The photons enter through the cell membrane (the outer layer of each cell) first, then into the mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell). This process called biostimulation biologically stimulates cell energy at the same wavelength as your cells function 632.5 nm. You might not know your cells actually function at a certain wavelength 632.5 nm. This process enhances healing by increasing the production of ATP in the mitochondria. ATP runs the body and heals the tissues; think of it like gas for your car. These photons are then passed on to each cell increasing the communication between the cells to increase energy. Picture a football field with 100’s of mousetraps all set and ready to go, then all the sudden you throw one Ping-Pong ball into the field what happens, all the traps start setting off. This process has a direct effect on the action potential of the nerves in your body that increase healing. When using this light therapy there is less down time, and you are able to get back to doing the things you love to do at a faster rate. Sign Me Up!
There are different classes of lasers, which are classified by the power out put and the wavelength.
Class 2 lasers use lower power because the wavelengths are shorter and require less time in producing more energy more efficiently. This has been proven in many resent studies. There is NO negative research about LLLT therapy. Please check pubmed.com for research about LLLT laser or any other subject. Class 2 lasers are safe for your eyes.
Erchonia Laser Class 2 is used in our office and is ISO certified which control quality medical laser devices for federal and international standards. Erchonia is one of the world leaders in LLLT.
Some of the other classes for laser are Class 3 and 4 lasers. These incorporate heat, due to the longer wavelengths and require longer periods of time. This is not the best type of treatment putting more heat into acute or inflamed injuries, or even chronic injuries, cooler, less heat, and less time has been proven to have the best results.
These lasers are not the same as a laser pointer, which is LED.
In 2002 the Light Therapy received a FDA clearance, which makes it compliant to all Federal radiological and consumer health codes. This was done with 2 randomized double blind clinical trials where there was a 60% pain reduction after care with the laser.
Light therapy, chiropractic, and nutrition together as a polytherapy, have shown to give the best results, faster and longer lasting.
Dr. Gentle continues studying the art, science, and functional application of light therapy, updating, and completing CE credits in laser yearly.
